August 9, 2026: OpenAI may be developing a new ChatGPT feature that would allow users to create personalised stickers and add them directly to WhatsApp without relying on a separate sticker-making application.

The feature has reportedly been identified during an analysis of the latest version of the ChatGPT Android app. It appears to be internally labelled “ChatGPT Stickers,” although OpenAI has not formally announced or released it.

References found within the app reportedly indicate that users may be able to generate stickers, download them and export them to other messaging platforms.

‘Add to WhatsApp’ Option Spotted

One of the most notable options reportedly found in the app is labelled “Add to WhatsApp.”

The wording suggests that users could create a set of stickers inside ChatGPT and then transfer the collection to WhatsApp as a custom sticker pack.

Other app messages, including references to “WhatsApp — three minimum” and an error notice stating “Couldn’t add stickers to WhatsApp,” suggest that at least three stickers may be required before a pack can be exported.

That minimum requirement may be linked to WhatsApp’s own sticker-pack rules rather than a separate ChatGPT restriction.

Feature Still Under Development

The sticker tool is believed to remain in development and may not be available to users yet.

OpenAI’s current public ChatGPT release notes do not list a WhatsApp sticker-export feature, meaning its final design, launch date and availability remain unconfirmed.

The official ChatGPT Android app already supports image generation, allowing users to create original visuals from text prompts or transform existing images. A dedicated sticker tool could build on those capabilities by simplifying the process of turning generated images into messaging stickers.

Easier Custom Stickers for WhatsApp Users

At present, users often rely on third-party applications to crop images, remove backgrounds and convert them into WhatsApp-compatible sticker packs.

A built-in ChatGPT sticker feature could make the process much easier by allowing users to describe the sticker they want, generate it and add it to WhatsApp from within the same workflow.

However, because the feature has not been officially confirmed by OpenAI, it may change significantly or may not be released in its current form.
