Chairman Village Council Pahai, Malik Sher Azam, has strongly criticized the inefficiency and negligence of the Health Department Ghazi, warning that if a permanent valve operator is not immediately appointed at the government tube well in Pahai, he will be compelled to halt the water supply.
He stated that for the past eight years, he has been voluntarily operating the water motor and fulfilling the responsibilities of a valve operator without receiving any official compensation. Despite submitting multiple written requests to the senior officials of the department, no action has been taken to resolve the issue.
Malik Sher Azam further alleged that certain departmental personnel are demanding bribes in exchange for the appointment of a valve operator, which he condemned as a gross injustice. He added that all valves have become dysfunctional, yet no official from the Health Department Ghazi is willing to visit the site to assess the situation.
Issuing a stern warning, he said that if a permanent valve operator is not appointed within ten days, he will shut down the motor at the tube well, resulting in a disruption of water supply that could lead local residents to protest on the streets. He asserted that full responsibility for any such situation would rest with the concerned department.
Malik Sher Azam also highlighted that the lack of a valve operator and the malfunctioning valves are leading to frequent disputes among locals. Despite repeated appeals to elected representatives, no serious attention has been given to the matter.
Residents of the area have also demanded the immediate appointment of a permanent valve operator and urgent repairs to the malfunctioning valves to alleviate the public’s hardships.
