The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) denied Chahat Fateh Ali Khan’s nomination papers, shattering his hope of running for office.
The ECP and parliamentarians were asked to permit the dual nationals to run for office by the social media sensation.
Chahat claimed in a video he posted on X, the former Twitter, that his nomination documents were turned down because he was a dual citizen.
The musician claimed, “During the scrutiny process, the Returning Officer rejected my nomination papers.”
He said that since every Pakistani is entitled to dual citizenship under the constitution, they ought to be permitted to run for office.
In the video, the performer stated that foreigners give millions of dollars to Pakistan, which helps the country’s economy greatly.
