BEIJING — BYD’s premium brand Denza has launched a public naming campaign for its upcoming Denza Z supercar, inviting users to help name three planned variants: hardtop, convertible and track-focused models.
The initiative, announced through official channels and Chinese social platforms, allows participants to submit suffix names paired with “Denza Z” to create full model designations. Submissions are open until April 10, after which 30 shortlisted entries will be put to a public vote on Weibo to determine the final names.
Multiple naming directions under consideration
The company has shared several proposed naming styles to guide participants. One set uses Chinese-language themes, including “Ride the Wind,” “Bask in the Wind,” and “Command the Wind” for the respective variants. Another set adopts English descriptors such as “FUN,” “FREE,” and “FLY.”
Additional proposals reflect performance-oriented naming conventions, including options like “Z-ONE,” “Z-RS,” and “S-719.” These remain indicative suggestions and have not been confirmed as final names.
Three variants with distinct positioning
The Denza Z lineup is structured around three use cases. The hardtop version is positioned as a balance between performance and everyday usability, incorporating track-inspired technologies. The convertible variant focuses on a soft-top design and lifestyle-oriented driving, while the track-focused model emphasises lightweight construction and higher performance capability.
Development and design background
The Denza Z is a two-door supercar first revealed as a concept at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2025. It was designed by Wolfgang Egger and features sculpted rear styling and a prominent aerodynamic profile.
Pre-production units spotted in China suggest that both coupe and convertible versions are in development, consistent with the current three-variant plan. Reports indicate the model will use BYD’s DiSus-M suspension system, designed to adjust body control using sensor-based inputs with rapid response times.
