BISP and ADB Review Social Protection Projects, Cash Transfer Programmes

ISLAMABAD, July 13, 2026: Benazir Income Support Programme Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid has reviewed progress on major social protection projects with an Asian Development Bank joint mission, including health, education and nutrition-related cash transfer programmes.

The meeting at BISP Headquarters examined ongoing work under the Integrated Social Protection Development Programme, its additional financing arrangements and BISP conditional cash transfer programmes supporting vulnerable families.

Senator Rubina Khalid chaired the session, which focused on project implementation, financial targets, data protection and future cooperation between BISP and the Asian Development Bank.

She welcomed ADB’s continued partnership and reaffirmed BISP’s commitment to transparent, technology-based and inclusive social protection services.

The chairperson also called for continued collaboration on data security, the Benazir Hunarmand Programme and public awareness and education initiatives linked to BISP’s health and education cash transfers.

Mission Reviews Implementation and Funding Targets

The ADB delegation reviewed progress against the programme’s Design and Monitoring Framework, Disbursement-Linked Indicators and Programme Action Plan.

The meeting also covered technical assistance, reporting requirements, implementation arrangements and nutrition interventions for adolescent girls.

Officials discussed measures aimed at improving programme delivery and strengthening coordination between BISP and development partners.

The ADB mission acknowledged progress in programme implementation and reaffirmed its technical and financial support for Pakistan’s social protection system.

ADB Delegation and BISP Officials Attend Meeting

The ADB delegation included Mansoor Ali Masood, co-mission leader and senior project officer; Hiddo Huitzing, senior social sector specialist for health and social protection; and Xin Long, co-mission leader and principal social sector specialist.

Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, technical assistance team leader and national social protection specialist, and Noman Ali, programme implementation specialist, also attended.

Additional Secretary BISP Dr Asmat Nawaz and the programme’s director generals were present at the meeting.
