Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu is set to return to the screen after a six-year break, having reportedly begun filming for a new streaming series directed by Hansal Mehta.
According to Indian media reports, the upcoming crime drama will be released on Amazon Prime Video. However, the series title, Bipasha Basu’s character and the release date have not yet been announced.
The project also features Sunny Kaushal and Vishal Jethwa in key roles. The story has been written by Kashyap Kapoor and Raghu Raj Kakkar, while Prabhleen Sandhu is producing the series under her banner, Almati Motion Pictures.
The crime drama is set in an apparently unremarkable town that is suspected of potentially becoming a major hub for heroin trafficking across the continent.
Sunny Kaushal plays a police officer determined to remain free from corruption while confronting powerful forces. His character must uphold his principles while navigating circumstances that test his humanity and moral values.
The creators have not yet disclosed further details about the roles played by Bipasha Basu and Vishal Jethwa or their significance to the storyline.
Bipasha married actor Karan Singh Grover in April 2016 and subsequently reduced her on-screen appearances, focusing more on family life. The couple welcomed their daughter, Devi, in November 2022.
The actress and Grover previously appeared together in the crime thriller web series Dangerous, released in 2020. Bipasha’s last full theatrical release was Alone, directed by Bhushan Patel and released in January 2015.
Her reported return to streaming marks a new chapter in her screen career, although further details about the series remain under wraps.
