BANNU, April 3, 2026: A suicide attack targeting Domel Police Station in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district was thwarted due to effective security measures, however, the attacker detonated explosives outside the premises, killing five civilians and injuring four others, security sources said.
According to officials, the suicide bomber, described as affiliated with “Khawarij,” failed to breach the police station and instead targeted a nearby civilian area. Among those martyred were three women and a child, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the attack.
The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where emergency medical assistance is being provided. Rescue teams, along with local residents, are actively engaged in clearing debris and continuing relief operations at the site.
Security sources stated that the timely and robust defensive measures prevented what could have been a far more devastating attack on the police facility. However, they condemned the attackers for deliberately targeting unarmed civilians, terming it an act of cowardice.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a comprehensive search and clearance operation to eliminate any remaining threats. Authorities reiterated that such elements aim to destabilize the peaceful environment of Bannu, but vowed that their elimination is inevitable.
