BAJAUR: At least three people were injured when a drone struck a cricket ground in the Shahi Tangi area of Mamund tehsil in Bajaur district on Friday, local sources and officials said.
The incident occurred while a cricket match was underway, causing panic among players and spectators. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment.
Following the attack, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace those responsible. Authorities said security has been placed on high alert across the area to prevent further incidents.
Local elders and residents strongly condemned the attack, calling for immediate measures to ensure the safety of civilians and restore normalcy.
Officials noted that militant groups in the region have increasingly used small unmanned aerial devices in recent incidents, raising concerns about evolving tactics targeting public gatherings and civilian locations.
No group has officially claimed responsibility for the attack so far, and investigations are underway.
