OVAL: Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan were the most successful T20 pair in the match against England at The Oval on Thursday.
Babar and Rizwan, considered one of the greatest pairs in T20, continued their impressive form in doubles and became the first pair to score 24 scores of 50 or more in the shorter format.
Of those 24 fifty-plus runs, 10 were converted into century partnerships by the Pakistani duo.
Babar and Rizwan broke the previous record of 23-plus fifties held by Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli of Royal Challenger Bengaluru (RCB).
Apart from the Pakistan cricket team, Babar and Rizwan also play together for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Karachi Kings.
In T20 cricket, Babar and Rizwan have 3,227 runs as a pair, only Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have scored 3,175 runs as a pair.
Remember, Babar became the first Pakistani and second batsman to score 4,000 T20I runs during T20I on Thursday.
The 29-year-old is only the second player to achieve this feat after India’s Virat Kohli, who has 4,037 runs.
