Speaking after the match, Babar said every victory brings satisfaction and highlighted Abdullah Shafique’s match-winning innings and the contribution of Pakistan’s two spinners as decisive factors in the team’s success.
Babar Explains Team Selection
Babar Azam revealed that the team management made four changes to the playing XI after assessing the pitch conditions alongside the coaching staff.
He said the surface resembled wickets commonly seen in Pakistan, prompting the tactical adjustments. According to the captain, the pre-series training camp also played an important role in preparing the squad for the series.
Abdullah Shafique Reflects on Comeback
Abdullah Shafique, who was named Player of the Match after scoring 184 runs, said his return to the side felt like the start of a new chapter in his career.
The opener acknowledged that Pakistan’s batting unit had fallen short of expectations in recent Test matches and said he had been waiting for an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution. He added that his primary focus was to help Pakistan secure victory.
