Pakistan Test captain Babar Azam says the national side is fully prepared for the upcoming West Indies Test series, expressing confidence in the squad’s balance of youth and experience ahead of the opening match.
Speaking to the media at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy before the first Test, Babar said the team has spent nearly two months preparing for the series and upcoming international assignments. He added that the players have worked extensively on their fitness and skills, leaving the squad ready to compete.
Pakistan focused on strong start
Babar said he was pleased to return as Pakistan’s Test captain and believes his previous leadership experience will help the team. He said he does not feel additional pressure from the role and is focused on leading the side effectively.
According to the Pakistan captain, the current squad combines experienced campaigners with emerging players, providing a strong foundation for success in the series against the West Indies.
Injury setback for Abdullah Fazal
Babar also wished young opener Abdullah Fazal a speedy recovery after the batter was ruled out of the series due to injury.
He described Abdullah as a talented and confident player who impressed during his first Test series and expressed hope that he would return to international cricket soon.
Pace bowlers could benefit from conditions
Commenting on the playing surface, Babar said recent rainfall has made the pitch more favorable for fast bowlers. He expects Pakistan’s pace attack to play an important role during the opening Test if the conditions remain unchanged.
