Islamabad: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad on Monday handed over the suspect arrested in the murder case of Group Captain Shaheed Asim Tariq to police on a seven-day physical remand for further investigation.

The hearing was conducted by ATC Judge Abual Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain. The suspect was produced before the court under tight security, while Prosecutor Raja Naveed Hussain Kiani represented the prosecution.

The prosecution requested a 20-day physical remand, informing the court that the suspect had been identified during an identification parade conducted at Adiala Jail. According to the prosecutor, eyewitnesses Kamran and Waseem successfully identified the accused.

Raja Naveed Hussain Kiani told the court that the identification process had been completed and further physical remand was necessary to advance the investigation.

During the hearing, Judge Abual Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain addressed the accused, saying, “What is the use of crying now? You have caused immense loss to the country and devastated an innocent family.”

The judge further remarked that the accused had destroyed one of the country’s valuable assets and that his tears could not undo the damage caused.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court partially accepted the police request and granted a seven-day physical remand instead of the 20 days sought by investigators.
