RAWALPINDI — Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Sunday warned that militants operating from sanctuaries across the Afghan border would not be allowed to threaten Pakistan’s security, reaffirming Islamabad’s firm stance against cross-border terrorism.
The army chief made the remarks during his visit to Kurram district, where he spent Eidul Fitr with troops and officers deployed in the region.
Field Marshal Munir offered Eid prayers alongside soldiers and prayed for Pakistan’s continued stability and prosperity. He also extended Eid greetings to the troops, praising their professionalism, high morale, and commitment to safeguarding the country.
During his interaction with troops and officers, the army chief commended their performance in ongoing security operations, particularly Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, which is aimed at dismantling militant networks and ensuring long-term peace in border areas.
He reiterated that Afghan territory must not be used by hostile elements to carry out activities against Pakistan, underscoring the country’s commitment to regional peace while maintaining a strong defence posture.
Acknowledging the sacrifices of security forces, Field Marshal Munir attributed recent operational successes to the bravery of soldiers and the sacrifices of martyrs, emphasizing that their contributions remain central to national security efforts.
