Bahawalpur: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), visited Bahawalpur Garrison on Wednesday to review operational preparedness and training, with a focus on the Pakistan Army’s evolving approach to multi-domain warfare, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the visit, the army chief observed a high-intensity field exercise titled Steadfast Resolve at Khairpur Tamewali, where troops demonstrated the integration of unmanned aerial systems, advanced surveillance capabilities, electronic warfare assets, and modern command-and-control structures.

The exercise reflected the military’s emphasis on technology-driven operations amid changing battlefield dynamics.
Focus on future warfare and force transformation
Addressing officers and troops, Field Marshal Munir praised their morale, professionalism, and operational readiness. He reiterated that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against all threats, stressing the importance of sustained readiness in view of emerging security challenges.

He noted that the character of warfare is undergoing rapid transformation due to technological advancement, requiring not only new capabilities but also a significant shift in thinking at all levels. According to ISPR, the army chief said future operations would increasingly rely on technological manoeuvres rather than purely physical ones, underscoring the need for innovation, indigenisation, and adaptability across the force.
Education and skills initiatives inaugurated
As part of the visit, the COAS & CDF inaugurated the ROHI eSkills Learning Hub (STP), an initiative aimed at promoting digital skills and learning opportunities, particularly for students from southern Punjab and other parts of the country. He also inaugurated the Army Public School (APS) Abbasia Campus, reaffirming the Pakistan Army’s commitment to education and character-building.

Field Marshal Munir later visited the EME Regional Workshop, where he was briefed on maintenance systems designed to sustain modern military platforms through advanced technologies and local solutions.
Earlier, upon arrival at Bahawalpur Garrison, he was received by the Commander Bahawalpur Corps. The army chief also laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha in tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
