Arid University Expands AI Training and Entrepreneurship Focus to Modernize Education

RAWALPINDI, Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) is strengthening its academic framework by expanding artificial intelligence training, entrepreneurship education, and digital learning tools across departments, according to Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman.

During a detailed visit to various faculties and institutes, the Vice Chancellor reviewed academic, administrative, and research activities. He met deans, directors, chairpersons, faculty members, and administrative staff to assess ongoing academic performance, research initiatives, and institutional development progress.

AI training to be introduced for faculty development

The Vice Chancellor announced that the University Institute of Information Technology will lead structured Artificial Intelligence (AI) training programs for faculty members across all departments.

He said the initiative aims to equip teachers with modern digital tools and AI-based competencies, enabling them to improve teaching quality and deliver updated, practical knowledge to students in line with global academic standards.

Push for entrepreneurship and innovation

Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman emphasized the importance of integrating entrepreneurship education into academic programs across disciplines. He said universities must encourage innovation and entrepreneurial thinking to prepare students for evolving job markets.

He added that students should be guided toward becoming “job creators rather than job seekers,” highlighting entrepreneurship as a key driver of long-term economic growth.

Academic quality and infrastructure upgrades

The Vice Chancellor also reviewed the implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and directed academic units to continuously improve curriculum design, teaching methods, and learning outcomes in accordance with national and international standards.

He further instructed relevant departments to accelerate the upgrading of laboratories, modernize classrooms, and improve academic infrastructure to enhance the overall learning environment.
