The streak of players withdrawing from the Champions Trophy continues, as another cricketer is ruled out.
New Zealand fast bowler Ben Sears has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy due to a hamstring injury sustained during a training session in Karachi on Wednesday, according to New Zealand Cricket.
Jacob Duffy has been named as his replacement and was already part of the New Zealand squad for the tri-series. The ICC event’s technical committee has approved the squad change.
Notably, Pakistan’s Saim Ayub and India’s Jasprit Bumrah have also withdrawn due to injuries, while Australia’s Mitchell Starc opted out for personal reasons. Afghan spinner AM Ghazanfar is unavailable due to fitness concerns, and South Africa’s fast bowler Anrich Nortje will also miss the tournament.
The ICC Champions Trophy is set to take place in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9.
