MUMBAI, October 2, 2026: Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan sustained a knee injury while shooting for the popular quiz show “Kaun Banega Crorepati” (KBC 18), according to Indian media reports.
During Wednesday’s shoot, Bachchan reportedly told the audience that he slipped while standing at the centre of the stage and delivering his traditional opening monologue. The fall left him with pain in his knee and made it difficult for him to stand.
The veteran actor said he normally records his opening monologue while standing in the middle of the stage. However, because of his knee discomfort, he recorded the monologue while seated this time.
Bachchan also reassured his fans that the injury was not serious and said he expected to recover soon.
The incident comes after the 83-year-old actor recently sparked concern among fans by mentioning “retirement” in a blog post. He later clarified that his comments had been misunderstood, explaining that he had used the phrase in the context of “retiring to bed” rather than announcing his retirement from work.
Bachchan, who continues to host KBC 18, remains one of the most prominent figures in Indian cinema. With a career spanning decades, he has appeared in more than 200 films.
