MUMBAI: Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel has opened up about her personal life, saying she currently has no plans to get married and is extremely happy living independently.
The 51-year-old actress addressed questions about marriage during a recent “Ask Me Anything” session on X, formerly known as Twitter.
When a fan asked whether she planned to marry, Patel gave a straightforward response, saying she was happy being single and did not currently see marriage as something she wanted.
She explained that she has around 100 close relatives and friends who love and support her, adding that she does not want one person to change the fulfilling life she currently enjoys.
Reflecting on her past, Patel revealed that she had been in a serious relationship before entering the film industry. According to the actress, her former partner belonged to a prominent industrial family in South Mumbai and did not want her to pursue a career in films.
The disagreement eventually forced her to choose between her relationship and her professional ambitions. Patel said she made significant sacrifices for her career and also experienced sacrifices in love, but the experiences taught her important lessons about life.
Despite her current position, the actress has not completely ruled out marriage. She said she could reconsider her decision if she eventually meets someone trustworthy who accepts her as she is, believes in her and respects her individuality.
For now, Patel appears content with her independent life while keeping the possibility of marriage open if the right person comes along.
