ISLAMABAD, August 9, 2026: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will hold its first-ever Job Fair on August 20, bringing students and graduates face-to-face with employers from the public and private sectors for jobs, internships, training and career development opportunities.
The event will take place at AIOU’s Science Block in Islamabad from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood is scheduled to formally inaugurate the fair at 9:00 a.m.
Students From Other Universities Can Also Participate
The AIOU Job Fair will not be limited to the university’s own students and alumni. According to the university, students from other universities across Pakistan will also be eligible to attend, widening access to potential employers and career opportunities.
National and international companies, government departments, private-sector organizations and financial institutions are expected to set up stalls at the event.
Employers and organizations representing information technology, telecommunications, banking, education, healthcare, industry and the services sector are also expected to participate.
Jobs, Internships and Graduate Trainee Opportunities
Students and graduates attending the fair will be able to explore job vacancies, internships, graduate trainee programmes and professional training opportunities while interacting directly with representatives of participating organizations.
Career counselling and professional guidance will also be available, giving participants an opportunity to learn more about employers’ requirements and potential career paths.
AIOU has advised participants to bring updated CVs to the event to make it easier to engage directly with recruiters and organizations offering employment or internship opportunities.
AIOU Seeks Stronger Academia-Industry Links
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood said developing students’ professional skills and preparing them for the demands of the workplace remained among the university’s key priorities.
Dean Faculty of Sciences Prof. Dr. Sher Muhammad said the Job Fair was part of efforts to strengthen links between academia and industry.
He said the initiative would bring national and private-sector organizations onto a common platform while creating new opportunities for students in employment, internships and professional training.
The August 20 event marks AIOU’s first Job Fair and comes as universities increasingly seek closer engagement with employers to help students transition from academic study into the professional workforce.
