Gilgit-Baltistan: AI Geo Navigators hosted an official stakeholder dinner in Gilgit-Baltistan, bringing together representatives from government institutions, development organizations, technical bodies, the private sector and media to discuss climate challenges, emerging technologies and opportunities for collaboration.
The gathering provided a platform to exchange ideas on how artificial intelligence, geospatial technology, remote sensing and climate intelligence can support environmental and climate-related decision-making in the mountainous region.
Participants discussed the potential of data-driven technologies to strengthen environmental monitoring, disaster risk reduction, climate risk assessment and preparedness, while improving access to information for evidence-based planning.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of combining modern technology with local knowledge, institutional experience and technical expertise to develop practical solutions suited to the needs of communities across Gilgit-Baltistan.
The dinner was attended by representatives from various government departments and organizations, including Planning & Development, Mines & Minerals, Tourism, Water & Power, Local Government & Rural Development, Forest Department, EPA, Communication & Works, NLC, SUPARCO and other institutions.
Representatives from development and technical organizations, including WWF-Pakistan, PRCS, GPRSP, AKAHD and Techflow Consultant Pvt. Ltd., also participated, alongside members of the media and Gilgit Press Club.
The diverse participation enabled cross-sector dialogue on environmental challenges facing the region and the potential role of technology in supporting climate-resilient development and disaster preparedness.
Participants further emphasized stronger collaboration among government agencies, technical institutions, development organizations, businesses and media to develop context-specific solutions for mountainous communities.
