Senior Indian actor Govind Namdev has withdrawn from Kala Hiran, a film reportedly linked to Salman Khan’s blackbuck case, after alleging that the filmmakers misled him about the project’s subject and presentation.

The development has added uncertainty to the film’s future ahead of its release, while also drawing attention in Bollywood because Salman Khan’s legal team has reportedly issued a notice to the producers over concerns about the use of his identity and the case’s background.

Speaking to Indian media, Namdev said he was initially told that he was joining a film titled Sumbal. According to him, he later learned that the project had been renamed Kala Hiran and was connected to the widely known case involving Salman Khan.

Namdev said he had agreed to work on the film after being told that it would focus only on court proceedings and facts already available on the public record. He said he was assured that the story would not include fictional additions or material beyond the legal record.

The actor said he would not have joined the project if he had known it could be presented in a way that targeted Salman Khan or portrayed him negatively. Namdev described Salman Khan as a close friend and said he could not be part of any project intended to create controversy around him.

He also rejected any attempt to link his name with the Bishnoi gang or related disputes, saying he keeps himself away from such matters.

The controversy grew after Salman Khan’s legal team reportedly sent a legal notice to the producers of Kala Hiran. The notice claimed that the film was being made in the background of the blackbuck case and objected to what it described as the inappropriate use of Khan’s identity and public image.

Namdev’s exit has raised questions about the film’s production, release plans and the response of its makers. The producers have not issued a detailed public clarification on his allegations so far.
