It has surpassed the tax collection target by showing a growth of 30 percent in the third quarter compared to 2024, which was 17 percent, and has been declared the “Best Performing RTO” by the FBR, said this while addressing a certificate distribution ceremony at Abbottabad RTO here on Thursday.
Appreciating the efforts of the staff and officers of RTO Abbottabad, the Chief Commissioner said that the results of the recovery campaign launched two months ago have come out and during the campaign, door-to-door contacts were made with the officers to collect taxes (income and sales) and special care was taken to ensure that no one was harassed at any stage and the business community voluntarily deposited most of the money. A total of 18,100 (m) were collected by the third quarter of the same year as compared to 13,600 (m) in 2024 and RTO Abbottabad has achieved 96% of the target set for the financial year ending 30,2025.
Talking to the media, the Chief Commissioner said that efforts are being made to dispel the wrong fears of the public regarding tax offices as they fear that “they will be mistreated in tax offices” and restoring public confidence with a friendly environment for the business community and the public is the need of the hour for which she is personally monitoring the day-to-day affairs and has advised the traders, especially the big traders, to pay the tax due to the tax payers. Mrs. Farhat Qayyum further informed that for the convenience of the business community, “Facilitation Desks” have been set up in RTO Abbottabad where special efforts are being made to widen the tax net and she is hopeful of maintaining her campaign in the last quarter of the financial year as well.
She appreciated the tireless work of the RTO staff and awarded certificates of appreciation to the officers and staff for their excellent performance, due to whose efforts, RTO shields were also presented to the retired staff members of RTO Abbottabad.
The ceremony was attended by the staff of the Regional Tax Offices of Haripur, Mansehra and Abbottabad. Commissioner Zone-I Muhammad Jawad and Commissioner Zone-II Khalid Shah and Additional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners of Abbottabad RTO were also present.
