Abbottabad: President of the Abbottabad Press Club, Sardar Naveed Alam, was honoured with an award at the Heroes of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa International Civil Awards Ceremony, held at the Governor House Peshawar.
The awards were distributed by Faisal Karim Kundi, Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in recognition of outstanding services rendered by journalists and professionals from across the province. The ceremony was organized by the Balochistan International Think Tank and Friends of Universe Society Pakistan, in collaboration with the Peshawar Press Club.

Under the Heroes of Earth – Pakistan Chapter International Civil Awards, a total of 17 senior journalists from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were selected to receive prestigious honours, including the Quaid-e-Azam Award, Nelson Mandela Award, Allama Iqbal Award, Nisar Usmani Award, and Bibi Shaheed Award, in recognition of their professional excellence and commitment to journalism.
Addressing the ceremony, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said that journalists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa perform their duties under extremely difficult and risky conditions and deserve encouragement at every level. He stressed that both federal and provincial governments must actively work to address the economic hardships, insecurity, and professional challenges faced by journalists in the province.
He said journalists play a vital role in raising public awareness by providing timely and accurate information, helping society distinguish between facts and misinformation, particularly in the age of social media. He congratulated all award recipients and praised their dedication to responsible journalism.
Chairman of the organizing committee Awais Khan Jadoon said that journalists are a valuable asset to society and reaffirmed that their organizations would continue to stand alongside journalists in their struggle for dignity and professional security.
Among those present at the ceremony were Riaz Khan, along with senior journalists and award recipients including Shamim Shahid, Faridullah Khan, Zahir Shah Shirazi, Farmanullah Jan, Waseem Ahmed Shah, Shahid Hameed, Kashifuddin Syed, M Riaz, Khalid Khan Khoshgi, Amjad Ali Khan, Farooq Faraq, Ziaul Haq, Farzana Ali, Arshad Aziz Malik, Bakht Zada, and others.
The ceremony concluded with applause for the awardees, recognizing their contribution to journalism and public service across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
