ABBOTTABAD: The introduction of e-stamp paper in Abbottabad has created widespread difficulties for citizens, with long queues and limited access forcing many to spend hours waiting without success.
Following the provincial government’s decision, stamp papers are now issued only through the Bank of Khyber, replacing traditional stamp vendors. Residents from Galiat Circle, Sherwan Circle, Bakot, and other areas say they are struggling to obtain affidavits and legal documents, often returning home empty-handed despite spending significant amounts of money and time.
Public pressure on the Bank of Khyber has increased sharply, with staff overwhelmed by the demand. Citizens argue that restricting issuance to a single bank has made the process unmanageable, and have called on members of the Abbottabad Assembly and relevant institutions to intervene.
Local residents have demanded that e-stamp paper be made available through other banks, including National Bank, MCB Bank, Meezan Bank, and Tehsil Offices, to ease the burden on the Bank of Khyber and reduce the problems faced by the public.
