KARACHI: Pakistani actress Sarwat Gilani has revealed that Indian actor Aamir Khan once asked her for episodes of legendary Pakistani performer Moin Akhtar’s iconic television programme Loose Talk.
Speaking in a recent interview, Gilani recalled how her international connections expanded after the web series Churails was released overseas.
She said she came into contact with several Indian personalities during that period, including Aamir Khan, as she knew someone associated with the actor’s production team.
Gilani expected a Bollywood offer
Gilani said that when Aamir Khan’s team contacted her, she initially assumed the actor might be interested in offering her a role in a Hindi film.
“I thought, wow, Aamir Khan — perhaps I will now appear in a Hindi film,” she recalled.
However, she soon discovered that Khan’s interest was not related to a film role. Instead, he wanted access to episodes of Loose Talk, the celebrated programme in which Moin Akhtar portrayed a wide range of characters while interviewing guests.
Gilani said Khan specifically asked her for the complete episodes of the programme.
Aamir Khan praised Moin Akhtar
According to Gilani, Aamir Khan was particularly impressed by Moin Akhtar’s acting abilities.
She recalled Khan praising the late performer for his extraordinary versatility and saying that he had never seen an actor who could convincingly portray such a wide variety of appearances and characters with such skill.
Moin Akhtar, regarded as one of Pakistan’s most versatile performers, became widely known for his work across television, theatre and film.
His Loose Talk performances, particularly his transformation into different characters during interviews with Anwar Maqsood, remain popular with audiences in Pakistan and beyond.
Gilani’s revelation also highlights the enduring appeal of Moin Akhtar’s work and the cross-border appreciation for his unique comedic and acting talent.
