KARACHI: Pakistani actress Meera has responded to criticism surrounding the box office performance of her film Psycho, sharing a message of confidence and resilience with her followers on social media.
Meera shared several posts on Instagram alongside her photographs, reflecting on difficult circumstances, failure and the behavior of people who distance themselves when times become challenging.
In one of her posts, Meera said some people describe her as a “flop” because Psycho did not achieve business of Rs100 crore. She said she considers herself brave because, despite facing indifference and losing the support of some people after the film, she continued moving forward.
In another message, the actress wrote: “A film can flop, but a woman cannot.”
Through the statement, Meera emphasized the distinction between a film’s commercial performance and the personal identity and abilities of an artist.
Her posts also questioned the tendency within the entertainment industry to treat a film’s financial performance as the ultimate measure of success. Instead, she focused on perseverance, self-confidence and continuing to move forward despite setbacks.
Meera has been part of Pakistan’s film industry for many years and has experienced different phases of professional success and criticism throughout her career.
