Mirpur: Acting Chairperson and Senior Member of the Prime Minister Inspection and Implementation Commission, Ms. Parveen Akhtar, conducted a comprehensive visit to Mirpur, including stops at Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Central Jail Mirpur, and the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education. She was accompanied by Deputy Director Sardar Tahir Altaf Khan, Assistant Engineer Naveed Rafiq, Adeel Iftikhar, and Assistant Commissioner Raja Zahid Hussain.
During her visit to Central Jail Mirpur, Ms. Akhtar inspected the quality of food provided to prisoners, as well as health, hygiene, and discipline standards. She instructed jail authorities to maintain the quality of meals and ensure proper healthcare facilities for inmates. She also assured the administration of her support in resolving any challenges faced by the prison.
At the AJK Educational Board in Mirpur, Ms. Akhtar toured various departments and received a briefing from Chairman of the Board, Professor Dr. Nazar Hussain Chaudhry, on the institution’s operations and management.
While visiting MUST University, she inspected multiple departments and emphasized the importance of maintaining high educational standards. She directed relevant officials to fulfill their duties in accordance with rules and regulations and urged them to play an active role in improving educational quality.
Ms. Akhtar stressed that nations and countries with strong and purposeful education systems are the ones that prosper. She emphasized the need to utilize available resources effectively to enhance the quality of education in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. She further highlighted that the government is introducing a new education policy aimed at aligning the education system with modern-day requirements.
