Mirpur SSP Khawar Ali Shaukat, during a media briefing, revealed significant breakthroughs by the Mirpur Police in curbing crime and dismantling an international drug trafficking network. He stated that police operations led to the arrest of two key suspects involved in the network: Shayan Khan, son of Tanveer Khan, and Muiz, son of Khawaja Shafiq. Both hail from Siyakh, Dadyal. The police recovered 1,200 grams of hashish and 112 grams of synthetic weed from their possession.
The drug network, active over the past ten months, allegedly sold narcotics worth approximately 25 million PKR. Efforts are underway to apprehend other members, including the ringleaders who have fled abroad. Mirpur Police is coordinating with international law enforcement agencies to ensure their capture.
The SSP also announced the arrest of two suspects involved in the murder of property dealer Rizwan Talib. The accused, Aftab Siddique and Kamran Hussain, were apprehended along with the murder weapon and a motorbike used in the crime. The suspects had fled to Jhelum after the incident but were tracked down by police in a swift operation.
International Drug Network Details
The SSP disclosed that the arrested members of the drug network were operating under coded aliases and targeted university students, youth from the UK, and other international markets. The drugs were supplied from Thailand using innovative packaging methods. Communication among network members was conducted via Instagram and Snapchat, avoiding personal bank accounts to maintain secrecy. The network was involved in smuggling ten types of drugs across Mirpur, Islamabad, Lahore, and the UK.
The police also arrested two additional suspects from Bahria Town, Islamabad, who were part of the network. The suspects reportedly imported raw materials for drug production through Ali Express. The SSP reaffirmed the police’s commitment to dismantling every link in the network.
