Beijing: Chinese Vice Premier Ding Suexiang has called on scientists to develop enthusiasm and gather wisdom and strength to make China the center of science and technology.
Ding, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), made remarks at the main events of the 2024 China National Science and Technology Week and Beijing Science and Technology Week.
In order to create a social environment that respects science and supports innovation, it is very necessary to support the spirit of patriotism, innovation, practicality, dedication, cooperation and guidance of scientists.
At the Institute of Mechanics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, famous scientists Qian Suesen and Gu Ongonghuai visited their office, an exhibition hall dedicated to the spirit of scientists, and a laboratory to test the mechanical properties of materials.
Ding said that the older generation of scholars achieved remarkable achievements under difficult circumstances, especially because of their deep patriotism and duty to serve the country. According to Ding, in order to achieve the great welfare of the Chinese people, advanced researchers must carry out their duties and responsibilities to gain strength and depend on advanced science and technology.
He highlighted the future of youth innovation and encouraged primary school students to pursue their interest in research and strengthen their dreams with the wings of science and technology.
Li Shulei, member of the Politburo and head of the propaganda department of the CPC Central Committee, also attended the event.
China National Science and Technology Week 2024 runs from May 25 to June 1.
