Seminar at University of Agriculture Peshawar Examines KP’s NFC Share and Merged Areas’ Challenges

The Youth Development Centre at the University of Agriculture Peshawar held a one-day seminar examining the financial and developmental challenges facing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), particularly in relation to its share in the National Finance Commission (NFC) and the integration of merged districts.

KP NFC Share and Merged Districts in Focus

The seminar, organized under the guidance of the Chief Minister and Chancellor of KP universities, was chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Emeritus Dr. Jehan Bakht. The event brought together academic and administrative leaders to discuss the province’s fiscal needs and governance priorities.

Keynote Speaker Highlights Financial Pressures

Former Inspector General of Police Dr. Syed Akhtar Ali Shah (Advocate) delivered the keynote address, noting that KP faces increasing financial demands, especially in the context of infrastructure development and rehabilitation in merged areas. He called for a coordinated strategy between provincial and federal governments to ensure equitable resource allocation through the NFC framework. Dr. Shah also encouraged youth to contribute to strengthening the province’s economic systems.

University Leadership Stresses Resource Planning

Vice Chancellor Dr. Jehan Bakht emphasized the importance of utilizing KP’s natural resources through effective planning. He reiterated the role of universities in education and knowledge creation and underscored the need for adequate financial support for the province within the NFC structure.

Institutional Participation

The seminar was organized by Dr. Anwar Ali Shad, Director of the Youth Development Centre. Attendees included Dean Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zafarullah Khan Marwat, Dean Prof. Dr. Shah Alam Khan, Director IBMS Dr. Muhammad Fayaz, Chief Proctor Dr. Bashir Ahmad, and faculty members from departments including Entomology, Rural Sociology, and Teaching.
