Islamabad: The Convener of the Pakistan–Kyrgyz Republic Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG), Rana Iradat Sharif Khan, met with Kylychbek Sultan, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Pakistan, at the Parliament House.
Reaffirming longstanding bilateral relations
The Convener welcomed the Ambassador and highlighted the deep-rooted relations between both countries, built on shared history, cultural affinity, and mutual goodwill.
Opportunity to deepen inter-parliamentary ties
He noted that the upcoming visit of the Kyrgyz President to Pakistan after two decades offers a key opportunity to advance cooperation in trade, connectivity, and parliamentary exchanges, strengthening inter-parliamentary ties between both states.
Enhancing cooperation between Parliamentary Friendship Groups
Both sides underscored the need for closer coordination between the respective Parliamentary Friendship Groups, especially after the completion of the electoral process and reconstitution of the Kyrgyz Parliament.
High-level engagement during President’s visit
The Ambassador shared that the visiting President will also meet the Honourable Speaker of the National Assembly during his upcoming trip.
Expanding educational and people-to-people connections
The Convener highlighted the strong presence of Pakistani students in Kyrgyz educational institutions, while Ambassador Sultan expressed interest in encouraging Kyrgyz students to pursue opportunities in the country.
Agreement on continued diplomatic engagement
Both sides agreed to maintain close communication and arrange a dedicated meeting between the Ambassador and the Group at a mutually convenient time.
