Peshawar: After the controversy surrounding the ETEA test, the MDCAT exam has also come under serious criticism. Students across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have raised grave concerns over errors in question papers and a lack of transparency in the examination process.
According to students, multiple mistakes were found in question codes A, B, and C, while the code D paper was leaked and circulated on social media during the test. Students claim that photos of the leaked paper were shared across various social media platforms, and they possess the screenshots as evidence.
Parents stated that over 140,000 students from across the province appeared for the test, each paying a fee of Rs. 9,000 in the hope of a fair and transparent examination. However, after the ETEA test controversy, the MDCAT has now been marred by irregularities and errors in the answer keys, leaving both students and parents deeply disappointed.
Parents said they had lodged complaints via email to the university administration, but no satisfactory response has yet been received.
Teachers from various academies have also confirmed that while code D’s paper appeared accurate, codes A, B, and C contained over 30 incorrect keys, directly affecting students’ scores.
Many parents shared that their children had spent the entire year preparing for the MDCAT test, but now fear their hard work will go to waste. Some students, especially female candidates, have been suffering from severe mental stress, and parents worry that the pressure could lead to tragic consequences if the issue is not addressed.
Parents urged the government to ensure transparency in the marking and results of MDCAT, so that students receive justice and their futures are not compromised.
In response, the Vice-Chancellor clarified that twelve senior professors were appointed to prepare the answer keys. He assured that students’ concerns would be reviewed and resolved with the help of these professors.
Meanwhile, students have demanded that papers from codes A and D be reviewed and cross-checked, and that the rechecking process begin immediately. They warned that if their demands are not met, they will have no option but to seek justice through the courts.
Students, parents, and teachers collectively appealed to the provincial government and higher authorities to take immediate action to resolve the issue, ensure transparency in the education system, and protect the future of thousands of young aspirants across the province.
