Security forces killed seven militants during an intelligence-based operation in Hangu district on August 7, 2026, according to an official statement. Captain Hamza Akram, 27, was also killed during the operation while leading his troops against the militants.
According to the statement, the operation was launched following reports of the presence of militants affiliated with Fitna Al Khwarij, which authorities describe as an Indian-sponsored proxy group. During the operation, security forces engaged the militants, who took refuge inside a mosque during the exchange of fire.
The statement said seven militants were killed in the ensuing operation. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the militants, who were allegedly involved in attacks against security forces and law enforcement personnel as well as the killing of civilians.
Captain Hamza Akram Killed in Action
Captain Hamza Akram, a 27-year-old officer from Narowal district, was leading his troops from the front while pursuing the militants when he sustained fatal injuries.
According to the official statement, he fought during the operation and embraced martyrdom while performing his duties.
Sanitisation Operation Underway
Security forces have launched a sanitisation operation in the area to search for and eliminate any remaining militants.
The statement said the counterterrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue across the country against what authorities describe as foreign-sponsored terrorism.
