A Spanish pastry chef has created a spectacular 500-kilogram wedding cake for a Saudi family, with the elaborate masterpiece standing 3.5 metres tall and measuring 1.8 metres wide.
Spanish pastry chef Marc Suarez created the extraordinary cake for a royal wedding involving a Saudi family.
Reports say Suarez spent around six weeks developing the concept before dedicating another four months to bringing the design to life. Normally working alone, the pastry chef enlisted the help of several fellow pastry chefs, their families and friends to complete the enormous project.
One of the most challenging aspects was producing, colouring and arranging approximately 33,000 individual flower petals. The petals were carefully combined with branches and flowers to create the cake’s elaborate decorative design.
According to Suarez, the project required approximately 1,800 hours of work in total.
Rather than resembling a conventional wedding cake, the finished creation was designed to look more like an elaborate work of art or a museum masterpiece.
The giant cake was presented at the Palais Garnier in Paris during the wedding celebration of a Saudi couple. The bride and groom reportedly requested that their identities remain private.
Suarez is already known for creating intricate and luxurious cake designs. However, the 500-kilogram creation is being regarded as one of the largest and most unusual projects of his career.
The scale of the cake, combined with its elaborate floral detailing and months-long production process, has made it a standout example of luxury pastry artistry.
