The Assam Police have arrested an Indian actress and her husband for defrauding people under the guise of online stock trading.
According to Indian media, the Assam Police detained well-known film star and choreographer **Soumi Bora** along with her photographer husband **Tarakak Bora** for their involvement in a **2200 crore rupee fraud** related to online stock trading.
After the arrests, the police issued a statement suggesting that the couple may have duped several other actors in the industry. The fraud was carried out without registration with the **Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI)**, making it illegal.
Reports indicate that more arrests are likely following the detention of Soumi Bora and her husband, as investigations into the case have just begun. A lead investigator told the BBC that so far, it has been revealed that thousands of individuals were targeted in this massive fraud.
