KARACHI: Toyota has confirmed that the next-generation Toyota Fortuner 2027 will make its global debut on December 1, 2026, bringing an anticipated redesign and technology upgrades to the popular SUV.
The announcement follows months of road testing and sightings of camouflaged prototypes in Thailand, which have offered early indications of changes to the vehicle’s exterior design.
According to automotive reports, the upcoming Fortuner is expected to feature slimmer headlights, a more upright front grille, redesigned bumpers and updated rear styling, drawing inspiration from Toyota’s latest Hilux.
The interior is also expected to receive significant improvements, including a larger infotainment display, a digital instrument cluster and a redesigned dashboard.
Reports suggest that Toyota may expand its Safety Sense features, potentially introducing advanced driver assistance technologies such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assistance in more variants.
The new Fortuner is expected to retain its traditional ladder-frame construction, maintaining the off-road capabilities and durability associated with the SUV.
In terms of engines, Toyota is expected to continue offering the 2.8-litre turbo-diesel powertrain, potentially alongside a 48-volt mild-hybrid option. However, official engine specifications have yet to be announced.
For Pakistani buyers, the global unveiling will provide the first confirmed details of the new model’s design, features and performance.
The Fortuner is locally assembled by Toyota Indus Motor Company, but no official launch date or pricing has been announced for Pakistan.
Further details about the 2027 Toyota Fortuner are expected to be revealed during its global presentation on December 1.
