RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed 12 militants in two intelligence-based operations conducted in Balochistan’s Washuk and Mastung districts on August 5 and 6, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were carried out under Rad-ul-Fitna-3, an ongoing counterterrorism campaign aimed at dismantling militant networks and eliminating foreign-sponsored terrorism.
The ISPR said security forces detected the movement of six militants in Washuk district on August 5. Troops engaged the group, killing all six during what the military described as a precise operation.
A second intelligence-based operation was conducted in Mastung district on August 6. Six more militants were killed following an intense exchange of fire, while a suspected militant hideout was also destroyed, the statement added.
The military identified those killed as members of what it described as the “Fitna Al Hindustan” network, a term used by the state for militants allegedly operating with Indian support.
The ISPR said security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue counterterrorism operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
It reiterated that operations against foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism would continue across the country.
