The Establishment Division has submitted details to Parliament regarding the abolition of 11,877 posts across various ministries and divisions, as part of the federal government’s rightsizing initiative.
According to the report, 11,764 positions from Grades 1 to 18 have been eliminated, along with 113 posts from Grades 19 to 22. The breakdown includes the removal of 2 adviser positions in Grade 22, 26 posts in Grade 20, 85 in Grade 19, 135 in Grade 18, 445 in Grade 17, and 552 in Grade 16.
The federal cabinet had decided in August 2024 to abolish 60% of vacant permanent positions.
