ISLAMABAD: On Monday, Kanwar Dilshad, a former secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), said that Murtaza Solangi, the federal government’s point person for information and broadcasting, had correctly indicated that the public shouldn’t pay any credence to rumors. During an interview on Radio Pakistan, he stated that the ECP was committed to holding polls in a predetermined amount of time.

He stated that even if the Senate voted a resolution to postpone the elections, they appear to be held on February 8 in accordance with the schedule set by the Pakistani Supreme Court. He stated that caretaker governments in federal and state governments were accountable for preserving the state of law and order throughout the elections.
