Islamabad Zong has signed an agreement with the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) to launch a large-scale tree plantation drive in Islamabad, aimed at expanding green spaces and addressing environmental challenges in the capital.

Under the initiative, around 3,500 indigenous trees will be planted across designated locations in Islamabad as part of Zong’s Green and Low Carbon initiatives. The project seeks to contribute to climate resilience, improved air quality, and urban biodiversity through coordinated public-private action.

The agreement was formalised at Zong’s headquarters, where the plantation drive was inaugurated with the planting of the first sapling by Syed Abrar Hussain, Director General Pak-EPA, Dr. Mohsina Zubair, Director Pak-EPA, Nabila Yazdani, Head of Corporate Communications, Brand and Sustainability at Zong, and Andleeb Aslam, Deputy Director of Corporate Communications and Sustainability at Zong.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nabila Yazdani said the initiative reflects Zong’s approach to integrating sustainability into its operations while working with national institutions to deliver long-term environmental benefits. Syed Abrar Hussain said the collaboration demonstrates how joint efforts between the public and private sectors can support environmental protection by improving green infrastructure and promoting the use of indigenous plant species.

In addition to plantation activities, the partnership includes public awareness campaigns designed to encourage community participation and promote environmentally responsible behaviour. Officials said these efforts are expected to support long-term outcomes such as carbon sequestration and mitigation of the urban heat island effect.
