A tragic incident occurred yesterday near Ghazi Barrage, where a young man jumped into the Indus River. Local youths made desperate attempts to rescue him, but unfortunately, they were unsuccessful. Upon receiving the information, nearby residents immediately initiated a search operation, which is still ongoing.
The drowned individual was later identified as Muhammad Ali, a resident of Bahawalpur district, who was employed at the Marhaba Bakery in Ghazi. According to eyewitnesses, Muhammad Ali entered the river near the barrage for a swim but was swept away by the strong current and failed to resurface. Police have registered a preliminary report and initiated further legal proceedings. Local residents have expressed deep sorrow over the incident and urged the administration to implement effective safety measures around the barrage area to prevent such tragedies in the future.
