India’s young cricket sensation Tilak Varma has created a new world record in the T20 format.
According to media reports, Tilak Varma has become the first batter in the world to score three consecutive centuries in T20 matches. He achieved this historic feat by scoring his third century during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024.
Previously, Tilak had scored centuries in the last two T20 matches against South Africa. He then added another century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match to cement his place in cricket history.
In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Meghalaya, Tilak Varma smashed 151 runs off 67 balls, hitting 10 sixes and 14 fours with an astonishing strike rate of 225.37.
Additionally, Tilak Varma broke the record of his compatriot Shreyas Iyer and became the first Indian batter to score over 150 runs in a T20 match.
It’s worth mentioning that the 22-year-old cricketer had earlier played stunning innings of 107 runs in Centurion and an unbeaten 120 runs in Johannesburg during the T20 series against South Africa.
