Pakistani television actor Yashma Gill has revealed that her father did not speak to her for nearly a year after she decided to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

The actor shared the experience during a recent appearance on a private television channel’s Ramadan transmission, where she discussed the personal challenges she faced when entering showbiz.

Yashma Gill said her father initially opposed her decision because of common social perceptions about the entertainment industry. She explained that she had always been interested in acting and chose the profession after returning to Pakistan from Australia, where she completed her education.

According to the actor, her father’s silence lasted almost a year before their relationship began to improve during the holy month of Ramadan. She said the tension eased when she greeted him and he responded, ending the period of silence between them.

Relationship improved during Umrah journey

Gill also shared that when she later planned to perform Umrah, she needed a mahram for the trip and asked her father to accompany her. He agreed to travel with her for the pilgrimage.

During the journey, she said, her father witnessed the respect and recognition she received from people because of her work. The experience, she noted, gradually changed his perspective about her career.

Following the trip, their relationship improved and communication between them became stronger.
