ABBOTTABAD: The World Peace Jirga Programme has announced that it will hold a Peace and Business Promotion Seminar in Rawalpindi on June 12, 2026, to discuss investment and development opportunities in Pakistan.
The seminar will focus on peace, business promotion, women empowerment and development projects in mining, agriculture, livestock, tourism and other economic sectors.
The announcement was made during a keynote address at the Abbottabad Press Club on May 25. The event was attended by WPJP representatives, including Sadia Khan, also known as Khan Bibi, Chairperson Women Peace Jirga Programme; Naveed Ahmed Khan, Central Coordinator WPJP; Muhammad Anwar Abbasi; Shamrez Khan, President WPJP Hazara Division; Jabbar Hussain; and Raja Muhammad Munir, General Secretary Abbottabad Press Club.
Speakers said the World Peace Jirga Programme had been working for peace, stability, harmony and conflict resolution through the traditional Jirga system in different parts of Pakistan.
They said the Rawalpindi seminar would bring together representatives from national institutions, business leaders, overseas Pakistanis, investors and stakeholders from different sectors.
The WPJP leadership also announced special initiatives under the Women Peace Jirga Programme to support women entrepreneurs and businesswomen in tourism, livestock, agriculture, handicrafts and small industries.
Speakers said women delegations would be facilitated through coordination meetings with government departments, senior officials and national institutions to encourage their participation in socio-economic development.
The delegation also visited Koza Gali and other tourist destinations in Abbottabad district to review tourism opportunities and future investment prospects.
WPJP leaders said the organisation plans to launch tourism and development projects in Abbottabad district to promote local tourism, create employment opportunities and attract local and international investors.
They also appreciated the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for its support and cooperation in tourism promotion activities.
Speaking on the occasion, Raitullah Khan said Shangla district had strong tourism potential, particularly in Burj Banda. He said WPJP intended to explore tourism and development projects in the area.
The leadership further announced that WPJP delegations would visit Dubai, Qatar, Bahrain, Riyadh, the United Kingdom and the United States during June, July and August 2026 to meet overseas Pakistanis, international partners and investors.
