Islamabad – The National Space Agency of Pakistan, SUPARCO, proudly announces the nationwide celebration of World Space Week 2025, the world’s largest annual space event. Scheduled from 4–10 October, this global observance will unfold across Pakistan as well as around the world. The theme for this year, “Living in Space”, explores humanity’s evolving journey to live and work beyond Earth. It also emphasizes the critical role of space science and technology in shaping our collective future.

Declared by the United Nations in 1999, World Space Week commemorates two historic milestones in space exploration. The first is the launch of Sputnik-1 on 4 October 1957. The second is the signing of the Outer Space Treaty on 10 October 1967. These events marked the dawn of international cooperation in outer space. They also laid the foundation for decades of scientific advancement.

SUPARCO has served as the National Coordinator for World Space Week in Pakistan since 2005. Over the years, Pakistan has emerged as a global leader in space outreach. In 2024, the country ranked first worldwide by organizing more than 6,000 events. This extraordinary achievement reflected the nation’s strong commitment to space education and awareness.

For World Space Week 2025, SUPARCO has curated a dynamic lineup of activities to inspire students, educators, and the public. Teachers’ training workshops will take place in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Gilgit. These sessions will focus on practical activities such as building and launching water rockets. Moreover, Space Camp 2025 will serve as a flagship program. It will feature workshops and contests to design, build, and launch model satellites. In addition, the Space Van Outreach program will visit schools in remote areas. Mobile science labs will bring space education directly to underserved communities. SUPARCO has also planned academic visits to its facilities. These tours will give students firsthand exposure to Pakistan’s space infrastructure. Furthermore, national competitions will include the Best Space School contest, Space Ambassador challenges for science societies, and creative public events promoting scientific thinking.

Through these initiatives, SUPARCO aims to bring the excitement of space closer to communities. As a result, students will develop curiosity and motivation to pursue careers in space science, satellite technology, remote sensing, and astronomy. The program also seeks to encourage innovation and long-term national capacity-building.

SUPARCO has invited educational institutions, science clubs, and the wider public to actively participate in World Space Week 2025. By joining hands in this celebration, Pakistan strengthens its role in global space discourse. It also continues to inspire future generations of scientists and explorers.

Ultimately, World Space Week 2025 is more than a commemoration. It is a movement to connect people with the cosmos, foster innovation, and build a future where space is accessible to all.
