Women University Mardan observes Kashmir Solidarity Day

MARDAN: Women University Mardan observed Kashmir Solidarity Day by organising a solidarity walk and an awareness programme to express support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The event brought together students, faculty members, and staff, who reaffirmed solidarity with the Kashmiri people and highlighted their internationally recognised right to self-determination.

The chief guest, Muhammad Kashif Kamal, Director Helpline 1099 and Director Child Protection Institute at the Ministry of Human Rights, spoke about documented human rights concerns in IIOJK. He stressed the need for sustained international attention and accountability to address the ongoing situation in the region.

Vice Chancellor Razia Sultana said the university remained committed to raising awareness about the Kashmir issue. She emphasised the role of education in promoting informed advocacy, peace, and justice, particularly among young people.

Organised by the Department of Political Science, the programme featured student speeches, a quiz competition, poetry recitations, and documentary presentations. Participants said such activities played an important role in strengthening awareness and reinforcing national solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

University officials noted that the event reflected Women University Mardan’s commitment to fostering social awareness and encouraging constructive dialogue on key national and international issues.
