In connection with International Women’s Day, the Business Incubation Center (BIC) at the University of Peshawar hosted a dedicated seminar titled “Women in Technology”, aimed exclusively at female students.
Organized by Karishma Zakaullah, the event was supported by Women Techmakers by Google and co-hosted with Code BIC, bringing together young women from various institutes across Pakistan, with a special focus on students from art and design fields.
The seminar sought to empower young women by encouraging them to embrace digital technology and unlock opportunities for remote income generation, ensuring financial independence from within their homes.
A significant number of female students from the University of Peshawar enthusiastically participated, demonstrating keen interest in learning about modern technological tools and digital entrepreneurship.
Addressing the audience, Dr. Shakeel, Director of the Business Incubation Center, remarked:
“Our mission is to guide young women towards digital literacy and independence. Through such initiatives, we aim to equip students with the latest knowledge of digital tools that will empower them for the future.”
Karishma Zakaullah, the visionary behind the program, stressed the importance of digital skills for women:
“Women today face numerous challenges in stepping into the tech world, but by embracing digitalization, they can overcome these hurdles. I aspire to see the female students of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa advance in both education and digital technology. Today’s turnout proves there is immense potential among our young women, and it is our responsibility to nurture it.”
The seminar also featured inspiring words from Afshan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s first female industrial entrepreneur. Sharing her journey, she said:
“I began my path to success with digital marketing, which has led me to this point. I encourage all young women to explore this field and open new doors to success and self-reliance.”
Participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting the growing need for women to stay abreast of technological advancements.
“With new technologies emerging every day, it is vital for women to stay informed. Programs like this provide invaluable learning, and we hope such efforts continue,” said one of the participating students.
The event concluded with a resounding message: initiatives like these are essential to paving the way for women’s empowerment and should continue to inspire young women to lead in the digital age.
