SHANGLA, Mar 13: A woman was killed and six others injured when a dilapidated wall collapsed at a payment centre of the Benazir Income Support Programme in the Koz Kana area of Tehsil Kana in Shangla District on Thursday, rescue officials said.
The incident occurred when a large number of women had gathered at the centre to receive financial assistance under the government support programme during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to local sources and eyewitnesses, many women were waiting inside the premises and near the boundary wall of the building when the deteriorated structure suddenly collapsed, trapping several people under the debris.
Residents rushed to the scene and began rescue efforts before emergency teams arrived. Personnel from Rescue 1122 later reached the location with ambulances and medical staff and assisted in retrieving those trapped beneath the rubble.

Rescue officials confirmed that a woman identified as Hawa Bibi died at the scene due to severe injuries caused by the collapse. Six other women were injured, including two reported to be in critical condition.
The injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Alpuri for medical treatment. Authorities said the injured include Farzana Bibi, Noori Bas, Saraf Khela, and others.
Following the incident, local administration officials reviewed safety arrangements at other BISP payment centres in the district to prevent similar accidents during financial assistance distributions.
Residents and community members expressed concern over the incident and called for stronger safety measures at public service centres where large crowds gather.
