Winter relief packages distributed to vulnerable communities in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Social Cooperation Initiative, in collaboration with the Zakat Foundation of America, distributed winter relief packages among deserving families and individuals in Islamabad to help them cope with severe cold weather.

The initiative was launched with the aim of ensuring that disadvantaged families and individuals are not left without support during harsh winter nights and are provided with a sense of security amid falling temperatures.

As part of the campaign, winter protection equipment was provided to 50 widowed women residing in Jinnah Garden to help them face the severity of the cold. In addition, 20 members of the transgender community, a segment often neglected in society, received winter relief packages.

The campaign also directly reached out to 20 homeless individuals living under bridges in different parts of the city, providing them with essential winter items. Furthermore, 20 women residing at the Social Protection Women’s Center (8-H) were distributed blankets and quilts.

The relief packages included warm shawls, blankets, socks, gloves, hats, and hoodies for adults and children.

On the occasion, the leadership of the Social Cooperation Initiative thanked the Zakat Foundation of America for its cooperation, stating that winter is an especially challenging period for disadvantaged families and individuals. They emphasized that the campaign was not merely about distributing goods but reflected a broader commitment to humanitarian service and social inclusion.
