Islamabad — Westminster International School hosted its first-ever TEDx event on Saturday at its Bahria Campus in Islamabad, bringing together students, educators, and public figures for a day of talks focused on ideas, innovation, and youth-led change.
According to the school, the inaugural TEDx event aimed to provide a platform for dialogue on contemporary challenges while encouraging young people to engage critically with social, economic, and environmental issues. The gathering marked a milestone for the institution’s academic and extracurricular initiatives in the twin cities.
Focus on ideas, youth, and community engagement
Held under the theme “Chain Reaction: Ideas in Motion,” the event explored how individual ideas and actions can create wider impact when shared and put into practice. Organisers said the theme was designed to highlight the role of youth as contributors to positive change and future leadership.
Eight speakers from diverse professional backgrounds delivered talks on innovation, technology, sustainability, social responsibility, and personal development. The speakers included Ismail Nasir, Ozair Arts, Maryam Arif, Fajer Rabia Pasha, Adeel Shahid, Imran Ali Dina, Zainamatics, and Hashim Nawaz.
In addition to the talks, the programme featured live performances and interactive segments, including music, beatboxing, and theatre, aimed at maintaining audience engagement throughout the day.
Participation of dignitaries and student leadership
The event was attended by several notable guests, including Romina Khurshid Alam, Coordinator to the Prime Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination; Muhammad Shehzad Khan, President of the Youth Council of Pakistan; and Malik Mohammad Habib Khan, a former inspector general and federal minister.
Raheel Sajjad Khan, CEO and founder of Westminster International School, welcomed the speakers and guests, acknowledging their participation and support for student-led initiatives.
School officials said the planning and execution of the event were led by the Student Executive Committee, comprising Wanya Hammad, Mahnoor Fatima, Abdul Rafay, Musa Mudassar, and Iman Mukhtar.
The school stated that the TEDx event reflects its broader approach to education, combining academic learning with platforms that promote dialogue, leadership, and community engagement.
